Stanford Professor Andrei Linde celebrates physics breakthrough. Charming video, millions have watched it. And you thought people have no interest in physics!
Linde says: "Let us hope it is not a trick" (at 1:56)
Unfortunately and sadly, if General Relativity is wrong then Inflation Theory is too means it is a "trick".
Of course, many ideas of Inflation Theory could still survive the fall of relativity.

And on a lighter note, Inflation theory can also be a candidate for the Economics Nobel (Memorial) Prize: take the physics text and replace "fields" with "money" and particles with "goods." (Do a further replacement to convert simple terms to fancy terms, for example replace "money" with "financial instrument"...).
